RCMP and First Responders attend collision between vehicle and horse-drawn buggy

Queens District RCMP officers, Island EMS and New Glasgow Fire Department were called to the scene of a collision between a vehicle and a horse drawn buggy at approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning on Route 224 in Ebenezer.

Early indications are that both were travelling east on Route 224 when the vehicle struck the back of the buggy. The two occupants of the vehicle, along with five occupants of the buggy were attended to at the scene. All but two have been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH).

One of the two adult occupants of the vehicle sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and one was released from the scene unharmed. Four occupants of the buggy, one adult and three youth sustained non-life threatening injuries. One youth from the buggy sustained serious injuries and all are being treated at the QEH currently.

Route 224 remains closed at this time as an RCMP Traffic Reconstructionist attends the scene.

The horse sustained minor injuries and was moved from the scene to a barn nearby.
