Sixty-three-year-old Edward Gellately of New Harbour was arrested on Friday evening, November 29, 2019, by members of Harbour Grace RCMP, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, following a threatening message left on the voicemail of a Harbour Grace Crown Prosecutor.
He appeared in court on Saturday, November 30, to face Criminal Code charges of intimidation of a justice participant, careless use of a firearm, and careless storage of a firearm. The firearms offences occurred at his home in New Harbour, where the arrest was made.
Gellately remains in custody, with his next court appearance set for Tuesday, December 3, 2019, in St. John's.
