One man and one youth remanded into custody following number of violent offences in Bay St. George area

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on December 10, 2019, Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a home invasion on Riverside Loop in Barachois Brook. An occupant of the residence was assaulted with a weapon.

Police arrived at the residence and learned that two males had fled the scene. RCMP Police Dog Services West were deployed and assisted officers in the search for the two individuals.

At approximately 9:45 p.m., Bay St. George RCMP responded to a report of a second home invasion at a residence on Main Street in Stephenville Crossing. Police arrived on scene and located the two suspects, who were still in the residence. Both were arrested and taken into custody. An occupant of the residence was choked, stabbed, and robbed.

Yesterday afternoon, Bay St. George RCMP received a report indicating a youth was assaulted and robbed in Stephenville Crossing on the afternoon of December 10, 2019. The two suspects in custody are alleged to have committed those offences.

These acts were not random in nature. The three victims, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, were known to the suspects.

Twenty-three-year-old Jordan Muise from Stephenville Crossing is charged with aggravated assault, two counts of assault with a weapon, break and enter, being unlawfully in a dwelling, mischief, obstruction of justice, overcoming resistance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, robbery and uttering threats.

The second suspect, a 17-year-old youth from the Bay St. George area, faces charges of aggravated assault, being unlawfully in a dwelling, obstruction of justice and possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and robbery.

Both suspects were remanded into custody yesterday for the charges of the home invasions and will attend court again today to answer to additional robbery and assault charges from the report received after they were taken into custody.

The investigations are continuing.
