Lac La Biche RCMP investigate fatal collision

RCMP are investigating after a 5-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries sustained in a collision this afternoon.

On October 19, 2019 at approximately 2 p.m., RCMP and EMS were dispatched to the Plamondon Landfill in the area of Range Road 161 and Highway 55. A father and son had finished unloading at the landfill when the 5-year-old boy was struck by the truck being operated by his father at the time.

RCMP and EMS immediately attended the scene. Unfortunately, the boy was pronounced dead on scene.

An RCMP Collision Reconstructionist has been called to assist in the investigation. RCMP Victim Services has been engaged to support the family during their time of need.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. No charges have been laid.

The landfill remains closed at this time while the investigation is completed.

RCMP Lac La Biche Detachment would like to extend their condolences to the family.
