Hinton RCMP investigate found human remains *update: identification*

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is providing an update about the found human remains dating back to May of this year, which were identified as 25-year old Nature Duperron, of Athabasca.

Duperron's family reported her missing on April 15, 2019. An RCMP missing person investigation determined that Duperron was last seen in Edmonton in the beginning of April of this year.

An autopsy was conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Edmonton on April 25, 2019, and as of this date a cause of death has not yet been determined.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit is treating Duperron's death as a homicide.

Hinton, Alta. – Last week, Hinton RCMP recovered a body from an area outside of the town of Hinton. An autopsy was conducted and next of kin notifications have been completed.

The investigation into the circumstances around the death are ongoing and as such, no further information will be released at this time.

An update will be provided as soon as information can be released.
