On Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) were patrolling the downtown area when they located a stolen vehicle. Members conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle and arrested both occupants without incident. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl and cash. During the course of the investigation police obtained information that a third person was en route to the suspect vehicle to deliver additional drugs. The male was quickly intercepted by CRU and arrested.
The following items were seized as a result of the investigation:
- 127 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine
- 14 grams of Cocaine
- 25 grams of Fentanyl
- One conducted energy weapon (taser)
- Canadian currency
A 35-year-old male of Grande Prairie, Alta. and a 30-year-old female of Bluesky, Alta., have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.
A 33-year-old male of Grande Prairie, Alta. is facing the following charges:
- Possession a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 3
- Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
- Possession of a Weapon Contrary to an Order x 3
As these matters are now before the court, no further information will be provided.
