Fort Saskatchewan RCMP no longer on scene of fatal collision - Highway 21 & 84 Street - Update

RCMP have concluded their on scene collision investigation at Highway 21 and 84 Street in Fort Saskatchewan. The roadway has re-opened as of 2:20 p.m. November 23, 2019.

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP would like to thank those motorists for their patience and understanding while being diverted during this time.

Background:

Fort Saskatchewan RCMP on scene of fatal collision between vehicle and pedestrian.

RCMP are currently on scene of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle, located at Highway 21 and 84 Street intersection in Fort Saskatchewan. A 15-year old male pedestrian, has succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the local hospital.

At 6 a.m. Nov. 23, 2019, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP responded in a priority fashion to the report of a collision with a pedestrian and vehicle. RCMP Collision Reconstructionist is en route at this time. Police will have the intersection closed. Fort Saskatchewan RCMP are asking for the publics' assistance in avoiding the area and taking alternate routes.

Traffic will be diverted south bound onto 84 Street onto South Fort Drive, where motorists will rejoin Hwy 21 at 94 Street.

The driver of the vehicle, a 54-year-old female, was not injured. Drugs and Alcohol are not considered factors at this time.

The area will be impassable to traffic for several hours.
