Ferryland RCMP arrest four youth in relation to stolen vehicle

On September 29, 2019, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Ferryland RCMP received a report of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near Bay Bulls.

Police conducted a patrol and observed the described vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to pull the vehicle over but the driver did not stop for police and headed across Witless Bay Line.

RCMP officers from Holyrood Traffic Services set up at the end of Witless Bay Line. As the vehicle approached them, it sped up, drove past the officers and struck a guard rail in an attempt to enter onto the Trans-Canada Highway. Four occupants departed the vehicle on foot but were immediately located and taken into custody by police.

The youth, all from St John's, were between the ages of 14 and 17 years old.

Checks on the vehicle revealed it was reported stolen from St. John's.

The driver faces a number of charges including flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00, dangerous operation of a vehicle and breach of probation. The three occupants face charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00 and breaches of probation.
