The RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) continues to investigate the homicide of Kevin William Sim. On July 12, 2019 MCU put out a public request for dash cam video. While there has been information provided from the public by way of dash cam video, tips and possible leads, MCU continues to seek anyone's available video from Whitemud Drive and the intersection of Highways 14 and 21 as previously requested.

Attached is a surveillance photo of Kevin Sim from June 30, 2019. The RCMP MCU believes it was captured before his disappearance that evening.

Strathcona County RCMP on scene of deceased male – Update #2

Edmonton, Alta. – The RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) are requesting public assistance in relation to this incident.

MCU are looking for any dash cam videos of vehicles travelling east or west bound on the Whitemud Drive between 111th Street and the east leg of Anthony Henday Drive. MCU also request the same for the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 21. The time frame requested for both locations is between 11:30 p.m. on June 30, 2019, and 9:30 a.m. on July 1, 2019.

Strathcona County RCMP on scene of deceased male – Update #1

Strathcona County, Alta. – The adult male has been identified as Kevin William Sim (22) of Edmonton. An autopsy was performed and it was concluded to be a homicide. Edmonton Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate this incident.

No further information will be released at this time.

Strathcona County RCMP on scene of deceased male

Strathcona County, Alta. – The Strathcona County RCMP with the support of the General Investigation Section, Edmonton Major Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit are currently investigating the discovery of a deceased adult male.

At 8:22 a.m. this morning the RCMP responded to the call from a passerby who discovered the male in a field near the intersection of Highways 14 and 21.

Several police members are on scene and the area is being contained. There is no public safety concern, and no determination has been made yet about the nature of this incident.

This investigation is in its preliminary stages and no further information is immediately available. An update will be provided when able.
