News release

On July 9, the RCMP's Central Alberta District (CAD) Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) recovered a stolen Cub Cadet lawnmower valued at over $10,000 as a result of information received about a suspicious 'for sale' post on Facebook.

In the late afternoon, the RCMP received information about the lawnmower being posted. The CAD CRU team launched an investigation and identified the suspect. RCMP air support provided assistance resulting in a search warrant being obtained for a rural property in Alder Flats. One male was arrested without incident, and the search resulted in the recovery of the lawnmower, stolen out of Sherwood Park in June, as well as a snowmobile stolen during a previous break and enter in Rimbey.

  • Possession of property over $5,000
  • Alter a vehicle identification number (x2)
  • Trafficking in property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance (x2)
  • Drive while unauthorized

He had a judicial interim release hearing and was release on a Recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Breton, on July 24, 2019 at 10 a.m.

At the time of his arrest, he was on a release Recognizance relating to charges out of Edmonton.

The CAD CRU continues to provide support to the detachments in Central Alberta District by way of shared intelligence, and a focus on interrupting the activities of repeat offenders.
