Cannabis products seized from unlicensed storefronts

December 19, 2019
Millbrook, Nova Scotia

News release

On December 18, police attended two unlicensed cannabis storefronts on Willow St. and one on Abenaki Rd. in Millbrook. Police inspected the properties under the Cannabis Control Act to determine whether any offences were occurring.

Searches were conducted at each of these locations, and police seized a significant quantity of cannabis, including cannabis edibles. The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending under the Cannabis Control Act.

Nova Scotia RCMP is continuing to work with the Chief and Council of Millbrook First Nation and employ a measured approach, which includes consultation with the stakeholders, to address the unlicensed sale of cannabis in the community. Increasing complaints and concerns about the products being sold and the potential sale to youth prompted the police action at these storefronts. Our goal is to have the unlicensed storefronts cease operations.
