Baie Verte RCMP charges man for careless use of firearm

On October 29, 2019, Baie Verte RCMP received information that a man, travelling along Route 413 near Burlington, pointed a rifle from the driver's side window of his pickup truck across the opposite lane of travel.

A number of moose were in the woods in the direction the man pointed his firearm but no shot was fired.

On November 14, 2019, Baie Verte RCMP arrested a 59-year-old Burlington man for careless use of a firearm. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Baie Verte on March 3, 2020.

This is the second incident on the Baie Verte Peninsula this hunting season where a person has been charged with careless use of a firearm while hunting from a vehicle.

RCMP NL reminds the public there are regulations in place concerning the use, storage and transportation of firearms and that hunting from a vehicle on a roadway is not permitted.
