Nipawin RCMP – Fatal motor vehicle collision

Nipawin RCMP along with police officers from the surrounding Detachments and specialized investigational support units remain on the scene of this fatal collision. Investigators have determined there were 29 people on the bus at the time of the collision, including the driver.

We can now confirm fourteen people have died as a result of this collision. The other fifteen people were sent to hospital with a variety of injuries; three of these people have injuries that are critical in nature. We are not confirming the identity of the victims at this time, including whether the deceased are players or coaches. We will be working with our partner agencies to ensure families are notified as soon as possible and the appropriate supports are provided to families and others who are impacted by this extremely tragic incident.

Parents and family of individuals seeking information about their family members who may have been in this collision can call 306-752-8700. This number was announced by the Government of Saskatchewan earlier this evening and we are including it with our media release to ensure it is distributed as widely as possible.
