Musical Ride BadgeBeginning in 1875, appointment badges were issued to distinguish between different trades within the force, such as trumpeters, saddlers, wheelers, and carpenters.
Over the years, appointment badges have remained a part of the uniform with the list changing somewhat to reflect new fields, including instructors, dog masters, air pilots, and detectives. In 1966, a badge was developed for members who had been on the Musical Ride for at least two years.
