Commanding Officer's Message

As Saskatchewan’s Provincial Police service, RCMP "F" Division is responsible for implementing the objectives, priorities and goals established in consultation with the Saskatchewan Government Ministries of Corrections Public Safety & Policing and Justice. The RCMP aims to support the overall priorities of the Federal Government through our own goal of working towards safe homes and safe communities. We will also continue to work with First Nations leadership to address the challenges within the First Nations policing program.

The three priorities I have for the RCMP in Saskatchewan are:

  • Support for Operational Policing,
  • Crime Reduction that is evidence based and proactive,
  • Recognizing and fulfilling our role as the Saskatchewan’s Provincial Police Service.

I know that our employees in Saskatchewan are working in an environment where we are facing criminal case loads much higher than the provincial and national averages. We face a significant challenge with work load and resource levels while trying to achieve a healthy balance between work and family. There has been a great deal of work done to address these challenges. We are working with the Government of Saskatchewan regarding a three year budget implementation plan. This plan if funded focuses on the elimination of the gap positions (unfunded established positions), additional regular members to support implementation of the back up policy and significant increases in our public service levels across the Division as well as a number of other Division priority requirements.

As we create our Division Crime Reduction strategies, we will focus our efforts on identifying and focusing on chronic crime problems and prolific offenders. I challenge all employees to become more engaged in identifying, researching, and analyzing crime occurring within your jurisdiction and across the province, and develop innovative crime reduction strategies.

It is our responsibility as the provincial police service for the Province of Saskatchewan to provide a policing service that meets the needs of our funding partners, clients and citizens.

We are on the threshold of some of the most significant change this organization has ever experienced. We are seeking new approaches, structure and systems that will allow us to continue providing a world-class policing service. With the Change Management team that has been established nationally and divisionally, we will move forward in a positive and progressive manner in order to bring about meaningful and effective change.

I am proud of the men and women of "F" Division and the work we do each day. I look forward to working with all employees to provide a quality and culturally sensitive policing service to the citizens of Saskatchewan. There are improvements we need to make. Working together we will make those improvements. This will ensure that the RCMP remains a respected and highly valued police service in Saskatchewan.
