Commanding Officer's Message

Assistant Commissioner Russ Mirasty joined the RCMP in 1976 in Saskatchewan. He has served in seven divisions including Saskatchewan, British Columbia, Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Alberta and HQ Ottawa. He has extensive experience in operational, northern and Aboriginal policing, including general detachment policing, traffic services, and police dog services.

Assistant Commissioner Russ Mirasty has held a number of executive level positions throughout his career including, Officer in Charge of “F” Division Aboriginal policing, North District Commander in “F” Division, Criminal Operations Officer in “L” Division, and Director General of the national Contract and Aboriginal Policing Services in HQ Ottawa. He remained in this position until assuming the role of Commanding Officer in “F” Division.

Assistant Commissioner Russ Mirasty is a member of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band in northern Saskatchewan. He maintains a strong relationship with his home community and is fluent in the Cree language. He and his wife, Donna, have two children. His son is a member of the RCMP and his daughter is currently pursuing a nursing career.
