Alleged Illegal Tobacco Distributor Arrested by the RCMP

Rouyn-Noranda, December 10, 2009 – Yesterday, the RCMP Abitibi-Témiscamingue–Nouveau-Québec Detachment, with the collaboration of the Sûreté du Québec, conducted a search in a Rouyn-Noranda residence. The officers arrested an individual alleged to be an illegal tobacco distributor. A certain amount of illegal cigarettes were seized during the operation.

The suspect was released on a promise to appear. He could be charged with possession of tobacco products not stamped in accordance with the Excise Act, 2001.
