Chief Superintendent Tracy Hardy

Tracy HardyChief Superintendent (C/Supt) Tracy Hardy was born in Ladysmith, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. She joined the RCMP in 1981.

After graduating from Depot, C/Supt Hardy had a number of posts through Saskatchewan, NWT, British Columbia and Yukon. In 1997 she held the position of Team Leader/Investigator in Prince George (BC) Serious Crime Section and in 2001 moved to the position of Detachment Operations NCO in both Squamish and Penticton, BC. Most recently, C/Supt Hardy held the position of Criminal Operations Officer for “M” Division, Yukon till 2009. From there, she served as Planning Officer, Integrated Security Unit for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC. She assumed the position of Commanding Officer of “L” Division on May 3, 2010 and was promoted to Chief Superintendent on June 28, 2010.

C/Supt Hardy is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Peace and Conflict Studies through Royal Roads University in Victoria, B.C. She has many interests both professional and personal, often with the two combining. She continues to focus on policing and community integration through grass-roots programs such as Habitat for Humanity, personal interaction with community groups, and partners with her quarter horse for programs involving youth. C/Supt Hardy is deeply committed to the enforcement of drunk-driving laws and improving police response to address the ongoing issue of domestic violence.

C/Supt Hardy has been awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal, RCMP Long-Service/Bronze Clasp, Commanding Officer’s Commendation as well as the Canada 125 Medal. She has Co-Chaired the RCMP Pacific Region Deputy’s Women’s Advisory Committee; was a member of the National Headquarters Women’s Advisory Committee and the Arctic Security Working Group during her previous tenures. Currently she is a member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police and the International Association of Woman Police and looks forward to developing new relationships through committee and advisory group involvement with local groups on Prince Edward Island.

C/Supt Hardy is the eldest of three children to Roy and Connie Hardy with siblings Rod and Kim. She looks forward to acquainting herself with the employees of “L” Division and the people of Prince Edward Island as well as enjoying her personal interests of horseback riding, motorcycling and the fibre arts.
