OTTAWA - February 28, 2011 - The RCMP's Prime Minister's protection detail is responsible for the 24-hour protection of the Prime Minister, his family and residences. The RCMP takes all threats to the Prime Minister and his family very seriously.

Last night, the RCMP received a call that there was a bomb at 24 Sussex. The RCMP immediately initiated an investigation and responded operationally to ensure the safety of our clients.

An investigation revealed that there was no immediate threat to the Prime Minister or his family.

With the support of our law enforcement partners in Gatineau as well as the RCMP's General Duty Protective Policing Unit, one individual from Gatineau, QC, has been arrested and is facing charges.
