RCMP A-INSET makes an additional arrest on 2010-08-27

OTTAWA - August 27, 2010 - As stated in earlier releases, the “A” Division RCMP Integrated National Security Enforcement Team, in collaboration with its law enforcement partners, continues to investigate the alleged terrorist criminal activity associated with Project Samossa.

Earlier today, in Ottawa, the AINSET executed one search warrant and took one person into custody as part of our standard operating procedures in the course of the search. No charges against this individual have been laid.

The RCMP does not provide details of any criminal investigation nor do we release the name(s) of an individual under investigation or arrest as a result of the criminal investigation unless criminal charges have been laid in court.

As we have said, since the first searches occurred on Wednesday, additional investigative work will continue in the coming days and it must be recognized, of course, that every individual involved is innocent until proven guilty.
