OTTAWA – June 7, 2010 - Last Friday afternoon, the “A” Division RCMP held a Change of Command Ceremony to welcome their incoming Commanding Officer, Assistant Commissioner François Bidal.
The ceremony, based on military tradition, provided the Division’s employees with an opportunity to say goodbye to their outgoing Commanding Officer, Deputy Commissioner Allen Nause, and gave his successor a chance to meet some local law enforcement and government partners.

When the outgoing and incoming Commanding officers sign this official document, they symbolically transfer authority from one to the other. The parchment is then signed by William Elliott, the actual Commissioner of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
