London Residents Sentenced for Heroin Importation

(London, Ontario - Tuesday January 5th ,2010) - On January 4, 2010 Yovanny MARIN-ARIZA and Luis SANIN were both convicted of Conspiracy to Import Heroin and Importing Heroin into Canada. The charges stemmed from a joint RCMP and London Police Service Drug section investigation in August 2006. Approximately one pound of heroin had been intercepted by US Customs and DEA authorities while in transit to London, Ontario. As a result of the investigation Yovanny Alfredo MARIN ARIZA (39yrs) and Luis Felipe SANIN (32 yrs) were arrested and charged for Importing heroin and conspiracy to import heroin.

Yovanny MARIN-ARIZA was sentenced to five years for Conspiracy to Import Heroin and eight years to Importing Heroin into Canada. Sentences will be served concurrently. Luis SANIN was sentenced to five years for Conspiracy to Import Heroin and five years to Importing Heroin into Canada. Sentences to be served concurrently.
