  1. Database of missing children.
  2. Coordinate the investigation of cases of missing children nationally and internationally.
  3. Administer a travel program for the reunification of children with their families. For more information click here
  4. Provide a photo age progression service, for any child missing for more than two years, to all police and searching agencies who request the service. For more information click here .
  5. Maintain and analyse national data on the nature and scope of missing children.
  6. Produce and distribute bulletins, reports, newsletters, resource materials and the findings of research studies concerning missing children, both nationally and internationally.
  7. Intercept and recover missing and abducted children crossing international borders.
  8. If it is suspected that a missing child and/or child abductor is coming into Canada, Canada Border Services Agency may issue a border alert at the Canadian border.
  9. If it is suspected that a missing child and/or child abductor is crossing other international borders, Canada Border Services Agency may request a border alert with that country or the RCMP may through the Interpol network.
  10. Display posters of missing children at border points in Canada. Posters are also available for other international borders.
  11. Train police officers, law enforcement agencies and other agencies in the techniques of detecting child abductors and abducted children.
  12. Maintain a network of cooperation among local government agencies, foreign jurisdictions and non governmental agencies working in the search for and safe recovery of missing children investigations.
  13. Liaise between the federal, provincial and territorial Central Authorities to fulfill Canada's obligations under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, an international treaty that helps enforce custody and access rights in cases of parental abduction to another country.
  14. Continually strengthen policy and legal instruments to locate and secure the return of missing children more effectively.
  15. Raise awareness of missing children cases and provide safety tips for prevention techniques on keeping children safe in Canada.
  16. Provide advice and guidance to parents of abducted children.
