The "our missing children" program works in cooperation with agencies that have a national reputation for serving Canadians on the issue of missing children. The following agencies have submitted to a review of their operations and are "recognized" by the OMC program.

Criteria for recognition of a non-profit agency
- An organization must formally apply for recognition to the "our missing children" program.
- The organization must have been in full operation for at least three years.
- The organization must provide:
- three original letters of recommendation from police services;
- a copy of police checks done on all members of the board of directors and staff;
- a copy of their charitable tax registration documents;
- a copy of their by-laws;
- a copy of their business plan and their mission statement.
Requirements for continuing recognition
- Each recognized organization must demonstrate ongoing financial stability by providing year end financial statements to the “our missing children” program by April 1 of each calendar year or at a mutually agreed upon date. All financial details will be held in confidence by the RCMP component of the “our missing children” program and will not be released to any other organization.
- All services and programs must be performed in a legal manner.
- No organization can use the National Missing Children Services or the "our missing children" name or logo in any of its promotional materials etc. without strict written authorization from National Missing Children Services or a member department of the "our missing children" program. No organization will be allowed to use the National Missing Children Services or the "our missing children" logo or name in mass appeal fund-raising.
- All tele-marketing or door to door solicitation type fund raising activities must be reported to the “our missing children” National Office. The “our missing children” National Office will, if requested by the non-profit agency, alert all police agencies within the specified target area.
- If any of the above conditions are not met the "our missing children" program will remove the offending organizations from the list of recognized organizations.
- All complaints received by any member department of the “our missing children” program will be recorded.
- An organization may at any time be removed from the list of recognized organizations.
