Created to address issues raised during the O'Connor Commission of Inquiry and other national security initiatives, National Security Community Outreach is focused on engaging the communities most impacted by RCMP national security criminal investigations.

By acknowledging community concerns, identifying mutual goals and practicing open and respectful communication, this effort aims to build trust and encourage ongoing dialogue about the key issues of concern related to the national security program.

Ensuring that all persons are treated with equality and respect is a fundamental component of RCMP national security criminal investigations. We believe an informed view of the rights and freedoms of Canadians as well as of the activities the RCMP undertakes to protect them can foster public discourse that contributes to safer and more secure communities.

The protection of our national security requires the awareness and involvement of all citizens. We encourage invitations to meet with community groups and we welcome opportunities to work more closely with cultural and ethnic community representatives.

Goals

  • Build and maintain positive relations with all Canadian communities.
  • Increase understanding and trust between Canadian communities and the RCMP National Security Program.
  • Ensure all persons are treated equally and with respect in RCMP national security criminal investigations.
