Commanding Officer's Aboriginal Advisory Committee

The Commanding Officer's Advisory Committees provide a forum to address the recruitment and training of Black and Aboriginal Nova Scotians in the RCMP.

Mandate

To advise the Commanding Officer on the recruitment of Black and Aboriginal Nova Scotians into the RCMP and the continued training and promotion of Black and Aboriginal members presently serving. To serve as a platform for discussion of Community/Police relations within the Black and Aboriginal communities of Nova Scotia.

TERMS OF REFERENCE
Based on the mandate, the Terms of Reference for the committee are defined as:

1) Reviewing the progress of promotion and appointment of Black and Aboriginal members within the RCMP in Nova Scotia.

2) Addressing concerns of residents on matters that affect safe and effective policing within the Black and Aboriginal communities.

3) Advising, and assist in developing and planning, projects and programs related to providing an effective police service for people of Black and Aboriginal heritage.
