Fatality in Ultra Light Plane Crash, Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) N.S.

Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Halifax District, responded with HRM Fire Services to an aircraft accident in a field across from 1040 Antrim Road ( between Carroll's Corner and Dutch Settlement) at 13:44 hours. An ultra light plane crashed into a pond and suffered extensive damage. The lone male occupant was immediately taken to hospital by EHS, with undetermined injuries. The accident has been reported to the Canadian Transportation Safety Board. The Dept of Environment have also been updated on the accident due to fluids leaking from the plane into the pond.


RCMP have confirmed that the 60-year-old pilot died. The Medical Examiner's office will be investigating as to the cause of death.
