Dieppe man facing Possession of Cocaine charges, Springhill, N.S.

A 39 Year-old Dieppe man is facing Possession of Cocaine and Proceeds of Crime charges as a result of a traffic stop in Cumberland County, Nova Scotia.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., last evening, members of the Cumberland District RCMP stopped a Cadillac Escalade driving west-bound on the Trans-Canada Highway, near Exit 5, Springhill. The driver of the vehicle, Jeffery Jacques Gallant, was arrested under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

Approximately two pounds of cocaine and over $14,000 cash was seized from the vehicle. Gallant has been charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5000. He is scheduled to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on September 24th, 2012 for plea. A 34-year-old New Brunswick woman who was a passenger in the vehicle was also arrested but was later released without charges.

The investigation is continuing.
