RCMP Barrington Detachment is currently run by Detachment Commander Sergeant MJ DeLuco. Sgt. DeLuco has been with the RCMP for 24 years, serving in Digby, Yarmouth, Windsor, Nunavut and the Nova Scotia RCMP Professional Standards Unit. Sgt. DeLuco was posted to Barrington in early 2012 and works with 6 members to police the Barrington area.
The Barrington RCMP Detachment has specialized service located in Yarmouth, including Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Services, Federal Drug Section and the Major Crime Unit.
The Barrington RCMP serves the Municipality of Barrington and the Town of Clark’s Harbour. This area includes Baccaro Point which is the southernmost point on the Nova Scotia mainland, though a couple of nearby islands, like Cape Sable Island, lie farther south. The area includes some of the world’s richest lobster fishing grounds and the fishing industry is the main source of revenue and employment.
