Violent Crime Linkage Analysis System (VICLAS)

Was developed by the RCMP to combat predatory violent offenders. It gives investigators an effective tool to link offenders and their sexual and violent crimes. All police agencies in Canada submit cases of homicide, sexual assault, non- parental abductions and missing persons or found remains where foul play is suspected. They are then documented extensively on a national database. The system is used to link previously observed criminal behaviour with the details of other incidents being investigated, thereby linking suspects to their crimes.
