I was profoundly saddened to learn that we have lost a member of the Force today. Dave Brolin lost his life when Air 5, the RCMP helicopter he was flying, crashed following a training exercise in the Cultus Lake area near Chilliwack, BC.
Dave was an experienced pilot who had been with the Force for almost six years. He was alone in the helicopter at the time of the crash. The cause of the accident is not yet known. A full investigation is underway in cooperation with the Transportation Safety Board and the British Columbia Coroners Service.
Dave is survived by his wife and two children. The Commanding Officer of “E” Division, Assistant Commissioner Craig Callens, has met with Dave's family on our behalf to share our sincerest condolences and to offer all available resources to support them in their time of loss. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Dave's family and friends.
