OTTAWA – Thursday, May 22, 2008 – Today, 19 RCMP employees are being recognized by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada for their achievements and contributions in policing.

“I congratulate all recipients for their outstanding contributions to policing and to the communities they serve,” says RCMP Commissioner William J.S. Elliott, Principal Commander of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces. “The exceptional dedication shown by these men and women throughout their careers in policing is a testament to their commitment to keeping Canadians and their communities safe. Today’s recognition is a very prestigious honour bestowed on only a few Canadians.”
