Standoff in Kimmirut ends peacefully

Kimmirut, Nunavut – At 2:05 pm EST, the suspect involved in a three-day standoff surrendered peacefully to police. He and another man, who were barricaded inside a Kimmirut residence, were taken into custody by RCMP officers.

No further tactical action on the part of the RCMP was required, and no injuries were sustained.

Charges against at least one person are pending.

Police remain on the scene, following up with the onsite investigation.

The RCMP is extremely pleased to have obtained a peaceful resolution to this situation.
