Ottawa – March 17, 2008 — Looking for relevant, bilingual video footage to support fraud-related stories? Look no further.
As part of ongoing public fraud prevention efforts, the RCMP, in collaboration with the Canadian Anti-Fraud Call Centre (formerly Phonebusters), has just produced a ‘B-roll’ video. This footage can be used by a variety of media to support fraud/commercial crime related stories.
Taped at the Canadian Anti-Fraud Call Centre in North Bay, the footage includes: interviews with subject matter experts (OPP, RCMP and Competition Bureau Canada), raw footage of the call centre and operators. It outlines common types of fraud and tips on how members of the public can protect themselves. The video is being released as part of Fraud Prevention Month.
Fraud is a pervasive problem that affects all Canadians. Educating the public about various types of fraud and how to avoid becoming a victim are the keys to fraud prevention. The RCMP is committed to working with its partners to reduce the threat and impact of Organized Crime in all its facets, including fraud.
