  • In 2006, 85,000 contacts between RCMP employees in New Brunswick and the public. One official complaint regarding language of choice. Currently being investigated by the Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages.
  • The Official Languages Act of Canada (PART IV) requires that all Government of Canada departments and agencies offer the public the choice to be served in either official language.
  • Linguistic profiles for communities are taken into account each time an RCMP position is allocated in the province.
  • The RCMP's New Brunswick Operational Communications Centre, which receives public calls and dispatches RCMP members throughout the province, is staffed entirely by fully bilingual members and provides 24/7 service as is the RCMP's Codiac Operational Communications Centre. In 2006, the two centres received more than 50,000 calls from across the province in both official languages.
