Division Criminal Analysis Section

The J Division Criminal Analysis Section (DCAS) provides analytical support to criminal investigations throughout New Brunswick.  DCAS maintains an intelligence database, and our crime analysts generate crime trend reports and synthesize information about criminal activity in New Brunswick. Criminal intelligence analysts are often able to detect crime patterns, predict future crimes, profile offenders, locate crime hot spots and determine the underlying causes of crime.

Analyst insight into crime has been instrumental in the development of J Division’s crime reduction initiatives.

Minimizing the threat and impact of organized crime on New Brunswick communities is an integral part of making New Brunswick the safest province.  As such, Federal Criminal Intelligence Analyst conduct ongoing research on serious criminal code offences, ranging from contraband tobacco to human trafficking.

In addition to the national strategic priorities of the RCMP and the provincial priorities laid out by the Province of New Brunswick, DCAS focuses on:

  • Combating Organized Crime and the Drug and Tobacco Trade
  • Border Enforcement
  • Financial Crimes
  • Human Trafficking
  • Outlaw Motorcycle gangs
