2004/11/4 Media advisory - RCMP to open new detachment in Elsipogtog, Elsipogtog, N.B. A grand opening of the RCMP detachment in Elsipogtog, N.B. will be held Friday, November 5, 2004 at 2:30pm at the Elsipogtog Community Health Center. The ceremony is expected to last 90 minutes. Elsipogtog Chief Susan Levy-Peters along with elders from the community will join RCMP Commissioner Giuliano Zaccardelli, and J Division's Commanding Officer, Assistant Commissioner Steve Graham in the official opening. Elsipogtog is the largest First Nation in New Brunswick with a population of more than 2,700. On October 1, 2002, the RCMP began providing policing services to Elsipogtog following the establishment of a tripartite agreement. The opening of the Elsipogtog detachment is an extension of that service. A corporal and seven constables, along with an administrative assistant from Elsipogtog work out of the new detachment. - 30 - Sgt.
