Lonnie Carr Arrested, Oromocto, N.B.

Lonnie Dellas Carr was arrested in Fredericton North, Thursday evening, January 28, 2010.

Members from the District 2 RCMP Plain Clothes Section were following up on investigative leads when they saw Mr. Carr as he was leaving an apartment building on Babbit Street.

Mr. Carr was arrested without incident and appeared in Burton Provincial Court on January 29, 2010 to face charges for several offences including aggravated assault, discharging a firearm and evading police. He will return to court on February 1, 2010 at 1:30 pm for a bail hearing.

District 2 RCMP would like to thank all citizens who called in tips. We would also like to thank the members and employees of the Fredericton Police Force who helped us with our efforts to locate Mr. Carr. "We were able to move so quickly to apprehend Mr. Carr, thanks in large part to the strong partnership and collaboration we have with the Fredericton Police Force." says Inspector Mike O'Malley, District Commander of the District 2 RCMP.

Carr was charged following an incident that occurred in Fredericton Junction on January 23, 2010. The RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault involving a handgun. The suspect had used a handgun in order to gain entry to the residence of an acquaintance and committed an assault with serious injuries before fleeing from the residence.
