2010/1/28
On January 27, 2010, District 11 RCMP members were dispatched to a small community just outside Hillsborough N.B. in search of a missing person. Ronald "Jody" Layton was overdue for approximately 6 hours when the RCMP launched a search and rescue effort. Tri-County Search and Rescue, the RCMP helicopter and the RCMP K9 unit were deployed as a result. At 11:15 a.m. on January 28, 2010, after having spent 18 hours missing, Mr. Layton was found by a local rescuer without any injuries. He has since returned home. The mild weather was a factor in his well-being. The RCMP would like to thank the efforts of the Tri-County Search and Rescue who devoted their work to find Mr. Layton.
