Sgt. Mark Gallagher to return home to New Brunswick, Dieppe, N.B.

Our fallen member and comrade, Sergeant (Sgt.) Mark Gallagher of the Nova Scotia (H Division) Royal Canadian Mounted Police, will return to his home province of New Brunswick on Monday, January 25, 2010.

Note: The following date and time is dependant on weather conditions and the ability of the flight to safely land in Moncton. Details on visitation and funeral will be released on Monday.

Where: Transport Canada Hanger, 1945 Champlain Street, Dieppe, N.B.
When: Monday, January 25, 2010 at 2:15 p.m.
What: Ramp Ceremony
* Please note: The ramp ceremony will not be open to the public, however; at the request of the family, media will be permitted on the tarmac.

Following the Ramp ceremony, J Division RCMP will escort Sgt. Gallagher to Woodstock, N.B. where his funeral will be held. First Responders including RCMP, municipal police officers, and other emergency personnell will set-up a “Highway of Heroes” along the New Brunswick Trans Canada Highway to pay their respects to Sgt. Gallagher at various locations enroute.

An RCMP Regimental Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 28th at St. Gertrude’s Roman Catholic Church in Woodstock. More details will be released on Monday.

Mark was killed in the earthquake that struck Haiti on Tuesday, January 12th. Mark was part of the Canadian contingent of police officers serving under the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti. His duties in Haiti included working on Project Coordination. His love of the French language made him a perfect fit to work with the people of Haiti.
