Carleton-York County motorists have a high seatbelt compliance rate, Woodstock, N.B.

Woodstock (N.-B.) Carleton York District 7 RCMP wish to congratulate local motorists for wearing their seat belts and are pleased to see that their policing initiatives appear to be making a difference in their local communities. Two studies done by the Carleton-York RCMP in December 2009 and in January 2010 revealed that 96% of motorists in the area are wearing their seat belts. The study was conducted in several communities including Hartland, Nackawic, Florenceville-Bristol and outside Woodstock town limits.

"This high seatbelt compliance rate pleases our local RCMP members who have been using a combination of enforcement and educational initiatives to increase public awareness on the importance of buckling up," says Sgt. Dave Vautour, from the District 7 RCMP. "I’m glad to see that local residents care about their safety and are buckling up because seat belts do save lives."
