The Shediac RCMP are reminding motorists to slow down through the construction zone on Hwy 15 between Moncton and Shediac. The speed limit has been reduced to 80 km per hour for a span of 2.6 km in length to ensure the safety of construction workers and for road conditions due to construction. These reduced speeds remain in effect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
"The Shediac RCMP received complaints from construction workers presently working in the Shediac area that motorists were not obeying the posted speed limits and speeding through construction zones putting them at risk. We have increased our policing presence on Hwy 15 and have recently given over 30 speeding tickets in that area," explains Sgt. Paul Ouellette.
RCMP reminds the public that minimum fines for speeding in a construction zone under the NB Motor Vehicle Act start at $340.50.
