District 9 Restigouche Chaleur RCMP is advising residents of a telephone scam presently occurring in the Campbellton area.

The suspects notify the customers that their vehicle warranty is about to expire and try to get them to buy extended warranty at a 20% rebate from what the dealers are offering. They are not targeting any specific car manufacturer.

The RCMP is recommending that you do not fall for the scheme, to make additional inquiries before buying extended warranties over the phone and to not give out personal information when the authenticity of the caller is not known.
