First degree murder charge laid in death of Hilary Bonnell, Burnt Church, N.B.

2009/12/9

A 29-year old Burnt Church man has been charged with first degree murder in the death of 16-year old Hilary Bonnell. The body of the teenaged girl was discovered buried in a remote wooded area commonly known as the old Tracadie Military Training Area last month. She had been missing since September 5, 2009.

On December 8, 2009, the murder charge was laid in Miramichi Provincial Court against Curtis Bonnell. He is to appear in court in Miramichi at a later date. The RCMP investigation has led police to believe that Curtis Bonnell acted alone in the death of Hilary Bonnell.

Acadian Peninsula RCMP District Commander, Inspector Roch Fortin will be available to the media on December 9, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the RCMP Command Post for the Hilary Bonnell investigation located at 3510 rue principale (Jean Coutu Pharmacy building) in Tracadie-Sheila, N.B.
