Studded tires to be removed as of May 1, Fredericton, N.B.

The RCMP would like to remind motorists that nice weather is on its way which means that starting May 1st you can no longer have studded tires on your vehicle in the Province of New Brunswick.

Under section 241(3)of the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act, it is illegal to operate a vehicle with studded tires and that offence carries a penalty of $ 172.50. It can also be very dangerous to be driving with studded tires when there is no ice because they can cause skidding. Therefore, please ensure to make the proper modifications to your vehicle by May 1st.
