Missing 72-year-old man found suffering from a gunshot wound, Saint-Sauveur, N.B.

A 72-year-old man, missing in a wooded area near Saint-Sauveur, N.B., was found approximately 6 hours after he was reported missing.

Tracadie-Sheila RCMP received a report of the missing man at approximately 1:40 p.m. on September 27, 2013.  He was missing in a wooded area about two kilometres north of Route 160 in Saint-Sauveur.

RCMP officers, the RCMP police dog, an RCMP aircraft, Ground Search and Rescue, and family and friends participated in the search.  He was located by a family friend at approximately 7:30 p.m. about three kilometres from Route 160.  He had suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to hospital in Bathurst.

The circumstances surrounding his disappearance and injury are under investigation.  Foul play is not suspected.
