RCMP warn of fundraising telephone scam, Grand Bay-Westfield, N.B.

The District 3 RCMP is warning the public about a telephone scam that has been circulating in the Grand Bay-Westfield area in recent weeks.

Police have had at least two reports of citizens receiving a phone call from someone pretending to be fundraising for the Grand Bay-Westfield Fire Department.

The fire department is not, and does not, solicit donations over the phone.

If you receive a similar phone call, hang up and report the call to police. If you have a caller ID function on your phone, take note of the number the call came from.
