The Foundation also supports the RCMP breeding program by holding a bi-annual public horse auction of surplus foals, broodmares, stallions and former Musical Ride horses to generate funds to ensure stability in the quality of horses participating in the world famous RCMP Musical Ride.
In partnership with Wal-Mart Canada, the RCMP Foundation is pleased to provide child identification kits free of charge to all Canadian families. Seven-hundred and fifty-thousand kits are produced and distributed annually. These kits are available through RCMP Detachments, Wal-Mart Stores and other community locations.
Virtually all aspects of life in remote, small settlements and sprawling towns and cities are addressed by the programs initiated and sustained by members of the RCMP from coast to coast. The daily involvement of members in their official duties exposes them to the needs of citizens of all ages in their communities, particularly youth. Further strengthened and supported by their voluntary commitment, the dedicated men and women of the RCMP strive to improve the lives, prospects and future of young people.
Projects which address specific problems in communities and involve the ongoing non-core policing participation of local RCMP members are eligible for consideration for funding.
Applications are received from RCMP members and/or community groups each Spring and Fall, with an approximate amount of $250,000 given annually. Deadlines for submissions are April and October. Projects should reflect clear linkages to the RCMP’s operational priorities, demonstrate support of and significant benefits to the community, and reinforce the RCMP/community partnership.
Full details of the funding criteria and funding application forms are available on the RCMP Foundation website.
