Retirement Lapel Pin

After national consultation, and approval by the Commissioner in May 2005, Honours and Recognition has created a Retirement Lapel Pin distinctive to the RCMP.

A committee with representatives from all three (3) categories of employees (Regular/Civilian members, Public Service employees) and a Staff Relations Representative was established and several design prototypes were developed. After national consultation, a web-based survey was conducted which offered all employees the opportunity to choose their preference from the four (4) final designs. The RCMP Veterans Association also provided its membership with the opportunity to select their preferred design.

The horse and rider with the single leaf design was the clear favourite. This design was approved for production on December 20, 2006.

The RCMP Retirement Lapel Pin Program will be officially launched on April 1, 2007 and will be administered through the Regional/Divisional administrative offices. As of that date, all employees who retire from the RCMP, having been employed by this organization for a minimum of 20 years, will be presented with this unique Lapel Pin.

Employees who retired from the RCMP prior to the launch of this program (April 1, 2007) and meet the criteria, will be able to purchase this Lapel Pin through the RCMP Veterans’ Association.

Retired members and public service employees who want to purchase a Retirement Lapel Pin should obtain an application form from the RCMP Veterans’ Association National Office:
