The Edmonton Laboratory of Forensic Science and Identification Services is one of six centres of excellence.  Built in 1985, and expanded in 2008, it is a full-service laboratory, and houses 71 people.

Project description
The Edmonton Forensic Laboratory is one of six forensic laboratories the RCMP operates across Canada.  These laboratories require ongoing maintenance to maintain their operational effectiveness.  Securing funding from the federal laboratory program will allow the RCMP to address deferred maintenance at the Edmonton Forensic Laboratory sooner than otherwise possible.

The Halifax Laboratory of Forensic Science and Identification Services is one of six centres of excellence, with a primary focus on Toxicology, in addition to a Case Receipt Unit.  Built in 1979, the Laboratory houses a total of 58 people.

The Ottawa facility is made up of three buildings which include the following:

The Ottawa Laboratory of Forensic Science and Identification Services is one of six centres of excellence.  Built in 2000, it is a full-service laboratory.  Its services include Evidence recovery; Biology analytical; Biology reporting; Expert testimony;National DNA Data Bank; Scientific Services and IBIS/CIBIN.

The National Police Services Building was built in 1972.  It houses the Canadian Real
Time Identification Services and Integrated Forensic Identification Services.

The Administration Building, built in 1972 and upgraded in 2000, houses National Administration for Forensic Science and Identification Services, Biology Reporting and the National Anti-Counterfeiting Bureau.

The Ottawa facility houses a total of 750 employees.
