Thompson RCMP make arrest after stabbing and forcible confinement

Miles is now also charged with Attempted Murder.


On March 22, 2024, at approximately 2:55 am, Thompson RCMP received a report of a disturbance at an apartment building on Copper Road in Thompson, Manitoba. When officers arrived, a male was located in the hallway of the apartment building suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Officers cleared the residence and immediately provided life-saving first aid to the 22-year-old male. Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the male to local hospital in critical condition, where he remains.

Investigation determined Samuel Miles 29, from Kinosao Sipi Cree Nation, had been staying with the victim when Miles held him against his will and robbed him. Miles then stabbed the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene.

Officers located Miles at a residence in Thompson at approximately 11:15 am on March 22, 2024. He was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault, Forcible Confinement, and Robbery. He remains in custody.

The investigation continues.
